Leadership positions at ACT/IAC

A belated congratulations to ACT/IAC’s Collaboration + Transformation “Financial Management committee” Shared Interest Group (SIG) new co-chair, Brian Downey, and its “Applied Innovation” committee chair, Maria Lee.  Brian runs our revenue-based collection system practice, and Maria, our data-driven dashboard group.  We’re proud that both volunteered to lead these forums for the open exchange of information with the government IT community.

Computech SHAREs

This past Saturday, over 40 Computech’ers braved 28 degree weather as volunteers at the SHARE Food Network’s distribution center in Prince George’s County.  We’ve posted full coverage of our experiences in a variety of places; most notably, our Concomitantly blog, YouTube Channel and Facebook page.  When you have a few minutes, take a look at our “Computech Cares” team in action.

Computech SHAREs

A quick thank you to everyone who participated in our early Saturday morning Computech Cares event this past weekend.  As many of you know, we had the privilege of volunteering at the SHARE Food Network’s distribution center a few miles outside of DC, in Hyattsville, Maryland.

As our CEO, J.D. Murphy, wrote yesterday to all staff, “arriving at the warehouse and seeing your teammates learn the processes and then carry out their assigned tasks with humor and cheer brought a smile to many faces.  Indeed, while cold and dreary, I heard several comments including “…we should do this again” and ” I’m glad to be here helping.”  So what did we accomplish?  Quite a lot in a six hour time frame: We moved carton after carton from the loading area to the distribution tables. We distributed and packaged frozen Perdue chicken, fozen tillapia, fresh lettuce, apples, oranges, carrots, onions, and potatoes some 18 items all told. And, we loaded cars, vans and trucks with  all of the distributed food. Additionally and importantly we met with and assisted the many individuals who were their to pick-up the goods from Project Share. We interacted with individuals  from different churches, representing a variety of faiths, and others like the Knights of Columbus that regularly come Project Share to fulfill the needs of others.  It was a great day — one we look forward to repeating next quarter.
