Computech Represents at AU’s CITGE

Last Friday, Data-Driven Dashboard Practice Lead Maria Lee spoke at the American University Center for Information Technology and the Global Economy (CITGE) for the Harnessing the Power of Social Media for Customer/Public Engagement event. Maria presented with Haley VanDyck (FCC – director of citizen engagement).

Together, they gave a presentation on “FCC’s Public Engagement Practice”, covering what Computech has done at the FCC, and more specifically on the Web 2.0 features implemented through Broadband.gov to engage the public in an open dialogue for the creation and roll out of the National Broadband Plan. In addition, they covered Ideascale and “Blogband” implemented on Broadband.gov, as well as other social media tools utilized to reach different audiences from the typical ones that frequent FCC.

Computech to Provide Consulting & Software Services for PTS’ 800 MHz Band Auction

We’re excited to have been selected by Sweden’s telecommunications regulator, the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS), for auction consulting services and software in support of their upcoming 800 MHz band auction.  Initially working with PTS to finalize the auction design and rules, Computech will then deliver a customized version of the Computech Auction Platform (CAP) to address PTS’ specific requirements, enabling the Swedish government to automate the auction process for the 800 MHz band licenses.

Computech Makes an Impression at FCC’s Open Developer Day

Early last week, Computech took part in FCC’s Open Developer Day. Along with having a strong presence at the convention, Computech had multiple representatives at the meeting to showcase our FCC/developer APIs (an initial prototype that Computech built for the National Broadband Map), which generated a lot of buzz.

Among some of the day’s events:

  • A discussion on how to optimize large amounts of data at a national level
  • A general overview of the concepts and architecture of the National Broadband Map and its novel approach to web mapping
  • The opportunity for a senior web developer to unveil his iPhone application demo to Chairman Genachowski, Chief Data Officer Greg Elin, and Managing Director Steven Van Roekel

When all was said and done, Computech was one of four teams that was able to develop something during the event, showcasing our ability to crank stuff out with a quick turn-around time and prove what talented individuals we have on our team.

Computech’s presence at the event was even mentioned in the press.
