Geographic Information Systems
Computech helps clients turn geospatial data into information and knowledge with our experience in data capture, analysis, data integration, cartography and presentation.
We are pioneering the use of Open Source GIS platforms and tools and have earned a reputation for delivering innovative applications and designs. We have developed platforms that provide Open API access to select data sets, helping to usher in the new era of transparency and data sharing for our clients. Our solutions have proven to increase communications and improve decision making.
Our abilities and experience supporting GIS projects at all lifecycle stages means that we can build an application from scratch, enhance an existing application, or augment a client’s team to provide just the technical support needed. From data capture, analysis and integration, to cartography and presentation, organizations leverage our expertise to deliver results.
GIS projects start with capturing the data. Computech has extensive experience in receiving data that must be spatially enabled or that needs further processing before it can be utilized. Our GIS Team has extensive experience in automating processes to make this data as useful as possible in the context of analyzing its geographic variable.
Computech’s team will correct, transform and prepare the information according to its intended uses and make sure that the quality of the data and its ease of use are maximized while preserving the correct topology of spatial features. The main purpose of a GIS system is to analyze the geographic variable and derive new data sets or information that can assist in decision making from a geospatial perspective.
Computech’s GIS Team uses techniques like spatial interpolation, conflation, reclassification of spatial features, overlay of vector layers, and dynamic segmentation of linear features to answer the most complex spatial problems. GIS analysis is used to assess the impact that a change in geographic features has on the territory, to measure different characteristics through engineering formulas (i.e. calculate a contour of the signal produced by a radio station) and to study the spatial relationship of features (i.e. measure mileage per census block).
In addition to data capture, processing and analysis, Computech also specializes in integrating the geographic variable into an extensive set of IT environments, seamlessly taking advantage of the capabilities of spatial processing and analysis in the broader context of IT systems. In order to do this, the team leverages its extensive experience building geospatial web services and follows industry standards so that the geographic variable can be incorporated into business work flows across the enterprise.
We are also able to produce cutting-edge web mapping solutions that present data in an innovative way on web browsers. The team has unique front-end mapping development capabilities and cartographic expertise that produces beautiful maps that convey the desired message, all while performing as fast as the technology allows and integrating with other web systems (i.e. CMS).
