OUR PROJECTS :: INTERNATIONAL
As a professional consulting firm specializing in the field of information technology, Computech’s preeminent position in the Washington D.C. community allows the firm to leverage its technological know-how to help clients around the world.
Since the mid-1980’s, Computech has collaborated with several non-U.S. companies and governments to help them more resourcefully monitor threats and monetize scarce resources. The Government of Mexico, INTERPOL, and the Government of Thailand showcase the firm’s breadth of expertise and ability to deliver local solutions based on advanced global concepts.
INTERPOL
Computech developed and implemented the Integrated Case Tracking System (ICTS) project for the International Police Organization’s National Central Bureau (INTERPOL/USNCB), a sophisticated system that allows non-technical end users to track international terrorist and criminal activities.
To create the ICTS, Computech conducted exhaustive surveys of the existing system, simultaneously working with the end users of the technology, before recommending a transition to a relational database, client/server environment. With so much at stake in this high-pressure environment — including the lives of agents — this critical new system had no room for error. Security, performance, and usability were crucial to the development of this system. Accordingly, application development accounted for strict user demands.
Government of Thailand
In the mid-nineties, the Government of Thailand faced a rapidly growing wireless telecommunications community. As such, the Post and Telegraph Department of the Thai government required a state-of-the-art transactional system to manage and license the kingdom’s airways.
Before Computech could address the administrative and technical needs of the system’s users, we readily embraced the complexity of managing the nation’s growing wireless communication resources.
Computech crafted an intuitive user interface for day-to-day operations; ultimately deploying a comprehensive system that effectively streamlines the process of assigning radio spectra, maintains accurate information regarding active broadcast facilities, and performs the necessary engineering to ensure interference-free broadcasting.
Government of Mexico
Computech has built a variety of auction systems for the Federal Communications Commission, supporting simultaneous multi-round auctions, descending auctions, Dutch auctions, and combinational auctions to ensure that FCC auctions generate maximum revenue for the U.S. Treasury.
Based on the demonstrated success of these systems at the FCC, the national telecommunications agency of Mexico (Cofetel) purchased the Automated Auction System in 1998 and awarded Computech a contract to modify it for Mexico’s specialized spectrum auction needs. Computech made the necessary modifications to the AAS to conform to Cofetel’s infrastructure and business process needs, and further assisted with the technical setup to deliver a fully functioning system on time. After a successful auction, Cofetel asked Computech to modify the AAS as Mexico continued to develop their auction rules. Once again, Computech provided the high quality technical service required to meet the evolving needs of the Mexican government.
Computech shares in its clients’ challenges; consequently, as our clients’ technological needs continue to evolve, we will continue to conceptualize and build the innovative, sophisticated transactional systems these companies and countries require.
